Project: Riverstone West Industrial Area
Client: Sakkara Real Estate Developers
Year(s): 2019-Current
Scope of advice:
- Preparation of Traffic Impact Assessment
- Providing SIDRA Traffic Modelling
- Traffic Management Plans
Development
A strategic landholding in the established North-West growth corridor of Sydney. It is serviced by existing road and rail networks with 2 adjoining train stations. The total Riverstone West (Sakkara) landholding comprises some 250 ha of mainly low lying land along the edge of Eastern Creek extending to the west of the railway line between Garfield Road West and Bandon Road.
There are currently 3 areas of development on the total site namely:
- the mixed industrial uses on the former “Meatworks” site located in the central eastern part of the site
- the pocket area of storage uses on the southeastern part of the site
- the Stage 1 area which is located in the northeastern part
Project Specific Complexities
The associated traffic engineering challenges arose due to the enormity of the sites size, resulting in challenges of traffic generation and the surrounding roads capacity for the proposed development. The proposed development has a high level of projected heavy vehicles due to the industrial nature of the site resulting in the requirement for traffic assessment and travel planning for the proposed development.
TTPA has and continues to provide the project team with innovative traffic engineering solutions incorporating the design of the internal circulation and parking areas to ensure safe and coherent traffic movements with minimal heavy vehicle and general staff traffic interfacing.
