Development
The new building comprises a new entry plaza, new exhibition spaces, shop, food and beverage facilities, visitor amenities, art research and education spaces, new roof terraces and landscaping and associated site works and infrastructure, including loading and service areas as well as services infrastructure.
Project Specific Complexities
The development works proposed numerous traffic and transport related challenges due to the high volume of pedestrians and vehicle movements reliant on the site frontage which is occupied by site works. Further complexities surround this project due to into proximity to the Royal Botanic Gardens and the associated special events.
TTPA has provided the NSW Art Gallery with an original traffic engineering solution incorporating the design of temporary pedestrian walkways, ensuring the safety and convenience of pedestrians throughout the construction phase. The strategic vehicle diversion routes aided by signage insured efficient traffic movements, minimising disruptions caused by construction activities.
